Drittmittelstelle (GRO)
Information and search for funding programs
You have a research idea and look for suitable funding? Here you find interesting links to European and national funding opportunities. In our newsletter we inform you about open calls. We offer also individual support and help you finding a funding program that fits your needs. Contact us and send us your research idea using this form.
Preparation and submission of proposals
If you are preparing a project application, please inform us in good time and summarise the project idea in the form. Please note that all projects for which beam time is required must be reported to the Grant Office (GRO). GRO will take care of forwarding the request.
In general, since March 2025, it is mandatory to fill in the internal form for project ideas with a total amount (direct and indirect costs) for GSI/FAIR of more than 430,000 Euro. GRO also organises a meeting withthe Scientific Managing Director and other stakeholders. The meeting should typically last one hour and take place around one month before the deadline.
We are happy to support you with the application, e.g. with budget planning and submission. We also offer to proofread applications.
Contract preparation and project start at GSI
If your proposal is funded, we support you with the contract preparation and coordinate the start of your project at GSI.
Reporting and audits
We do the financial reporting of your project and support handling the funding guidelines.
Furthermore we perform networking and lobbying activities and we help, in close collaboration with the Brussels Office of the Helmholtz Association, promoting the Helmholtz interest in the preparation of Horizon Europe — the next research and innovation programme by the European Commission.
We also coordinate the graduate school HGS_HIRe as well as the R&D program, which fosters the research cooperation of GSI with German universities.
