GSI ALC database Project
The GSI Absolute Lymphocyte Count (ALC) Database is a structured collection of lymphocyte count data recorded during and after radiotherapy, compiled from various scientific publications. The data were extracted from graphical representations in studies, digitized, and systematically organized along with relevant metadata such as treatment type, irradiated organ, and patient group characteristics. It serves as a resource for analyzing ALC dynamics in radiotherapy patients and is maintained by the GSI Biophysics Department.
GSI ALC database in a Nutshell
The current version (v1.0) compiles 142 datasets from 52 publications.
Each dataset contains lymphocyte count dynamics recorded during and/or after radiotherapy, measured over time or delivered dose.
The database also includes detailed metadata, such as the number of patients, therapy duration, beam delivery technique, and other relevant information. For a full overview, refer to the User Guide.
The GSI ALC Database is freely available—see the section "How to Get the GSI ALC Database?" for the download link.
It is updated periodically.
The development team continuously expands the database by incorporating new publications. Community contributions and suggestions for missing studies are highly appreciated.
The primary publication on the GSI ALC Database, along with its initial applications, is: Sandul et al., 2025 [1].

How to get GSI ALC database?
The latest version of the GSI ALC Database can be downloaded from the following link: DOWNLOAD.
Upon downloading the .zip archive, you will find the following files:
User Guide.pdf: A detailed guide on how to use the database. Please read carefully to ensure correct usage and avoid any misunderstandings.
database_table.xlsx: A structured table providing an overview of all datasets included in the database, including details on treatment plans and clinical parameters.
References.pdf: A compiled list of publications used as sources for the database.
Author_Year/data/dataset.dat: Data files containing lymphocyte count dynamics recorded during and/or after radiotherapy.
tutorials/ALC_database_demo.nb and tutorials/ALC_database_demo.ipynb: Step-by-step tutorials demonstrating how to load, utilize, and extract information from the database using Wolfram Mathematica and Jupyter Notebook (Python), respectively.
The database may be updated sometime. To ensure you have the most recent version, check for updates on this webpage from time to time. Instead of redistributing the database manually, please share the official download link to ensure access to the latest version.
