Support of young top researchers

GSI participates with its Helmholtz Institutes Jena and Mainz in the Helmholtz programme of establishing Helmholtz Investigator Groups, in which excellent young researchers from Germany or abroad are supported in forming and leading their own independent research group. Characteristics of this programme are the tenure track option and the condition of close collaborations with universities.

Creating and managing one’s own research group for the first time and meanwhile being integrated within a renowned international working environment, gathering teaching experience, and also benefiting from the outstanding infrastructure of a major research center – this is the dream of every young scientist. For the Investigator Groups in the Helmholtz-funded research programme of the same name, it’s no longer a dream – it’s a tangible reality.
