Engineering Run 2019

The Engineering Run 2019 was scheduled ath the end of the year (11.11 - 20.12). THe main goals were to comission a storage ring mode in the control system as well as to inject beam from ESR to Cryring and store it. Both goals were reacher. The following projectiles were used:

Ion SourcesIsotopeAvailability [h]
Unilac PIG40Ar2+464
40Ar1+471.42
Unilac CORDIS40Ar1+516.2
Cryring MINIS12C1+831.5
Unilac VARIS238U5+244.78
238U4+138.58

General statistics is the following:

At the same time an Availability Working Group (AWG) was organized, which followed on the weekly base all the Failts in OLOG and assigned correctly the Fault Root Causes. Hence, the presented below is verified with the Expert Groups:

Several high-impact Faults have been identified:

  • LINAC RF:
    • 15.11.2019 GUA4BA4 Heater power suppy failed. Total Impact 120.65 h
    • 02.12.2019 GUA4BA4 Cannot rech Uranium Level (Gauge). Total Impact 425 h
  • Vacuum Leak:
    • 23.11.2019 Leak in experiment chamber in Cryring. Total Impact 323 h
    • 11.11.2019 Leak in Unilac UH4 Region. No root cause was identified. It was stabilzing on its own, causing permanent external Interlocks and further failures in this region. Total Impact 122 h
