Panda-Kollaboration zeichnet Doktoranden aus: Theorie PhD-Preis für Dr. Antje Peters
Die 27 Jahre alte Physikerin Antje Peters hat den Preis, der mit 200 Euro Preisgeld sowie einem Zertifikat dotiert ist, für ihre Dissertation zum Thema „Investigation of heavy-light four-quark systems by means of Lattice QCD“ erhalten. Betreuer der Promotion war JProf. Dr. Marc Wagner von der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.
Der PhD-Preis wird seit diesem Jahr einmal jährlich von der PANDA-Kollaboration für die beste Theorie-Dissertation im Zusammenhang mit dem PANDA Physikprogramm verliehen. PANDA ist eines der Schlüsselexperimente am künftigen Beschleunigerzentrum FAIR, im Mittelpunkt stehen die Forschung mit Antimaterie sowie verschiedene Themen rund um die schwache und die starke Kraft, exotische Zustände von Materie und die Struktur von Hadronen. In der Kollaboration arbeiten mehr als 500 Wissenschaftler aus nunmehr 20 Ländern zusammen. Dr. Antje Peters beschäftigte sich in ihrer Dissertation mit Lattice QCD Rechnungen für Open-flavour Vier-Quark-Systemen, einem wichtigem Bestandteil des Panda-Physikprogramms.
Kandidaten für den PhD-Preis werden von ihrer jeweiligen wissenschaftlichen Gruppenleitung nominiert, Voraussetzung ist neben einem direkten Bezug zur PANDA-Forschung die Bewertung der Promotion mit mindestens „sehr gut“. Bis zu drei Kandidaten kommen in die engere Auswahl und dürfen ihre Arbeit beim PANDA-Kollaborationsmeeting präsentieren. Die Entscheidung erfolgt durch ein von der PANDA-Kollaboration benanntes Komitee. Mit dem Theorie PhD-Preis möchte die PANDA-Kollaboration die Beiträge von Studenten und die Wichtigkeit theoretischer Studien zum PANDA-Projekt besonders würdigen.
Panda Collaboration honors PhD: Theory Prize for Dr. Antje Peters
Dr. Antje Peters has received the PANDA Theory PhD Prize 2018 for her doctoral thesis at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. The award was presented at the most recent PANDA Collaboration Meeting in Stockholm.Physicist Antje Peters, 27, received the prize of €200 and a certificate for her dissertation titled Investigation of heavy-light four-quark systems by means of Lattice QCD. Her doctoral advisor was JProf. Dr. Marc Wagner from the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
The PANDA Collaboration has awarded the Theory PhD Prize for the first time in order to honor the best theory dissertation written in connection with the PANDA Experiment and its science program. PANDA will be one of the key experiments of the future accelerator center FAIR. The experiment focuses on antimatter research as well as on various topics related to the weak and the strong force, exotic states of matter, and the structure of hadrons. More than 500 scientists from 20 countries currently work in the PANDA Collaboration. In her dissertation, Dr. Peters studied lattice QCD calculations for open-flavour tetra-quark systems - a very important topic for the PANDA physics program.
Candidates for the PhD Prize are nominated by their doctoral advisors. In addition to being directly related to the PANDA Experiment, the nominees’ doctoral degrees must have received a rating of “very good” or better. Up to three candidates are shortlisted for the award and can present their dissertations at the PANDA Collaboration meeting. The winner is chosen by a committee that is appointed for this task by the PANDA Collaboration. The PANDA Collaboration awards the Theory PhD Prize to specifically honor students’ contributions to the PANDA project and to highlight the importance of cooperation with theory groups.

Young Scientists' GSI/FAIR Poster Colloquium 2018
Beim diesjährigen Young Scientists' GSI/FAIR Poster Colloquium wurden von 45 jungen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern Arbeiten aus allen Bereichen der Forschung bei GSI und FAIR präsentiert. Die Veranstaltung wurde am 24. April von der Helmholtz Graduate School for Heavy Ion Research (HGS-HIRe), dem Repräsentanten der Promovierenden Jan-Paul Hucka und dem GSI/FAIR Kolloquium organisiert. Wie schon im Vorjahr war das Poster Colloquium sehr gut besucht und bot Gelegenheit zu zahlreichen interdisziplinären Diskussionen. Die besten fünf Poster wurden mit dem Best Poster Award ausgezeichnet, der aus einer Urkunde und einem Preisgeld von 100 Euro besteht. Wir gratulieren den Preisträgern Sönke Beck (JLU Gießen), Mathilde Himmelreich (GU Frankfurt), Julian Kahlbow (TU Darmstadt), Susanne Tonnemacher (GSI) und Konstantin Mohr (TU Darmstadt)!
Young Scientists' GSI/FAIR Poster Colloquium 2018
At this year's Young Scientists' GSI/FAIR Poster Colloquium, 45 young scientists presented their work from all subject areas of research at GSI and FAIR. The event was organized by the Helmholtz Graduate School for Heavy Ion Research (HGS-HIRe), by the student representative Jan-Paul Hucka, and by the GSI/FAIR Colloquium. As in the previous year, the Poster Colloquium was well attended and offered ample opportunity for interdisciplinary discussions. The best five posters were honored by a Best Poster Award consisting of a certificate and a prize money of 100 Euro. Congratulations to the award recipients Sönke Beck (JLU Gießen), Mathilde Himmelreich (GU Frankfurt), Julian Kahlbow (TU Darmstadt), Susanne Tonnemacher (GSI) and Konstantin Mohr (TU Darmstadt)!
