to do research in the group Immune system and tissue radiobiology in the research field of immunotherapy in combination with radiotherapy.

Topic of the thesis: The work will be related to immunological processes of tumors following irradiation. Combinations of radiation with immunotherapies (e.g. RNA vaccines and checkpoint inhibitors) will be explored. In particular, the difference in the immunogenic response for conventional photon therapy and carbon ion radiotherapy will be investigated.

Your tasks:

  • Develop and implement novel radiobiological methods, including murine models
  • Design and execution of irradiation experiments devoted to in vitro and in vivo radiobology and immunology research, particularly experiments linked to our collaboration partners working with mRNA vaccines
  • Analysis of experimental datasets
  • Involvement in scientific publications and dissemination of project results

Requirements:

  • Master degree (or comparable) in Immunology, Biology, Biotechnology or a related disciplines
  • Strong interest in tumor immune biology and tumor radiotherapy
  • Knowledge in the field of immunology and/or radiobiology as well as cell and molecular biology, including state-of-the-art methods
  • Interest and knowledge of bioinformatics and omics technologies is a plus
  • Fairly good English language skills and enjoying work in an international environment
  • Excellent ability to work in a team and a high degree of flexibility as well as autonomy
  • Experience in design, conduction and analysis of complex experiments
  • Certificate for animal experimentation (FELASA B) is a plus
