FAIR Council at Bose Institute in Kolkata.

Review of the year 2024: An eventful year lies behind us. This selection of the many outstanding events of 2024 at GSI/FAIR gives just a small insight into the diversity. TdoRZ attracted many visitors to GSI/FAIR's data center Green IT Cube.
For the second time, GSI/FAIR invited visitors to the Open Data Center Day (Tag der offenen Rechenzentren, TdoRZ) in November. A total of 60 interested people on four tours were given the opportunity to take a look inside the high-performance computing center Green IT Cube on campus.

New tank section
After a successful test phase, the new electroplating facility at GSI/FAIR has now completed its first order: A new-generation Alvarez tank section was successfully copper plated. The state-of-the-art facility impresses with its exceptionally large pools and was recently commissioned after three years of construction. Three young researchers have be honored with the Christoph Schmelzer Prize this year: Dr Katrin Beatrix Schnürle from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Dr Yuri Simeonov from the Philipps University of Marburg receive the award in recognition of their dissertations, Annika Schlechter from the University of Heidelberg for her Master's thesis.
