Structure of Beam Time Proposals submitted via GATE to Bio-PAC
Please describe the long-term vision of your project, even though you can apply for beam time for the next period only. The text should summarize the scientific justification and relevant technical details for the proposed experiment and should cite relevant publications (from applicant and from the research field).
Proposals not prepared according to these guidelines risk being rejected on formal grounds.
This text will be uploaded as PDF-file during proposal submission via GATE under "General proposal data" as so-called "Scientific case and results expected".
The Proposal should be structured and contain the following information :
Proposal text (max. 10 pages):
- Title Page with Title, Spokesperson, Participants and Abstract
- Introduction to the Topic (including references to "state of the art”), scientific context and motivation
- Previous Experiments and Experimental Background
- (if existing, including: what has been done and learned from conducted experiments in previous beam time; in case of previously B rated proposal: what has been modified and in case of previously A minus-rated proposals: what has been done since)
- Idea of Proposed Experiment
- Presentation of new approach to address the science question
- Objectives and expected results, incl. accuracy of data
- Impact and relevance to the field
- Experimental Design and Methods
- incl. schematic view of set-up, technical requirements and proposed work plan
- Justification of Beamtime Request
- explain the requested number of shifts, e.g. by referring to the work plan
- (indicate whether your experiment is ready to run or in which year of the beamtime period relevant for this call it could be scheduled)
- Three major Publications of the Spokesperson, References
