Professor Marco Durante, head of the Biophysics Research Department at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, was recently awarded the Ellen Gleditsch Prize by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters. The award ceremony took place during the Academy's public conference on “Proton Therapy - Physics meets Medicine” in Oslo.



Particle acceleration for young and old
Hands-on science: Last Saturday, visitors from near and far flocked to Roßmarkt to find out more about research from Frankfurt and the surrounding area. The big event, put together by the Frankfurt Alliance, featured an exciting stage program and lots of activities. GSI/FAIR offered insights into the function of particle accelerators and their scientific work with two hands-on experiments.



This year, 31 students from 16 countries took part in the Summer Student Program at GSI and FAIR. They spent eight weeks on campus, got to know the experiments and research fields of GSI and FAIR and immersed themselves in the atmosphere of an international accelerator laboratory. Handover of the SPARC PhD Award

Visit of heads of agency of regional board Darmstadt
